Ballot Access Drive

The Montana Libertarian Party is asking for your immediate support! We have successfully fought for and won ballot access for over two decades. Besides the Democrats and Republicans, we are the ONLY political party that can make that claim. However, due to Montana’s exorbitant filing fees, it is a continual struggle to maintain our ability to compete with the two old parties.

In order to maintain ballot access, we must run successful statewide races. To this end, we identify potential candidates each election cycle, but they sometimes require assistance with their initial funding. These individuals are carrying our ballot access on their shoulders, so we’re more than happy to help with some of that load!

This year, we have more statewide races to fill than most election cycles: US Senate, US House, Governor and Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor, and Superintendent of Public Instruction.

As of today, the following have already filed:

  • United States Senate – Eric Fulton

  • Governor – Lyman Bishop

  • Lt. Governor – John Nesper

Additionally, these candidates have expressed interest in running for the following offices and sought our assistance with their filing fees:

  • Roger Roots – State Auditor

    • Mr. Roots has a proven track record of standing against government waste and overreach. We firmly believe he has all the necessary skills and experience to fill the office of State Auditor.

  • Kevin Leatherbarrow – Superintendent of Public Instruction

    • Mr. Leatherbarrow runs a successful private alternative school in Great Falls, and we stand behind him as the choice for Montanans who are fed up with our failing public education system.

In response to their requests, the MTLP Executive Board has voted to allocate the necessary funds to cover the filing fees for the State Auditor and Superintendent of Public Instruction races. We believe this will go a long way toward ensuring our continued ballot access.

However, this has caused a significant impact on our operational budget which is ordinarily used to fund our day-to-day expenses. As such, between now and Monday, the 9th, we are asking for your help! Please consider donating what you can so that we’re able to continue offering you a real choice for less government, lower taxes, and more freedom.

Please donate what you can below.
